also correct me if im wrong but Janet is one of the people who can remember loops naturally right? and she got the endless labour loop, while shiv, another "mutant" got the endless gunshot death loop. does that mean that as the latest mutant george is due an endless suffering loop too? are they gonna complete the pattern of three? or did the gunshot death loop count for both of them
tbf if i were rebrov & my boss made the executive decision to make the choice to kill my baby in a trolley problem i would also choose to become evil. flint voice everyone is a monster to someone since you are so convinced that i am yours i will be it!!!!!!!!!!
Literally i get that George being doomed by the narrative and fully not being able to deal with his grief is a key plot point. BUT literally you went around killing a bunch of people and didn't even think about throwing that fucker in jail????? Shiv even tried to help you. Maybe if you beat that man up to the brink of death you'd feel a little better
last post before i finally go to bed but i love how much more complex the show turned out to be than i assumed from the premise when my mum recommended it to me. in the pilot a lot of archie's dialogue, the karaoke scene, plus the general cheery camaraderie of everyone but Shiv suggest this is gonna be a "team of lovable characters stop a different apocalypse each week" type of show with rebrov as the recurring villain.
but almost immediately it veers off that setup, you gain new context with each episode that makes the initial cheery camaraderie seem fucking unhinged while rebrov seems, if not justified then at least understandable, but thats all besides the point because he's not even the villain and that's not even the conflict.
the pilot says its going to say witty lines while saving the world and then the rest of the show uses sci fi scenarios to question the value of a human life and interrogate its answers inside out
the infant death-birth-infant death loop in episode 3 is still one of the most harrowing things ive seen on tv btw. this isn't fun time travel hijinks sci fi this is "what are the theoretical limits of human misery" sci fi
George addo lazarus project is so crazy... he did all that for a woman who in one time loop dumped him while he was having a nervous breakdown during supercovid for a guy who would push her in front of a lorrie
this is gonna be a very niche post but listen: you betray your friend in order to save the life of the woman you love, who you think of as your wife despite her not thinking the same way. this betrayal sets you on a path that leads to you shooting your friend dead (except you didn't) (except you did), and you think this will fix everything but now the woman who is not your wife doesn't recognise you, she doesn't know exactly what it is you've done but it lingers between you and so she will never get as close as you want her to. despite initially believing what you did to your friend doesn't matter, you will eat your words when you have to live with the consequences.
are you john silver black sails or george ado lazarus project
I still feel insane about the way rebrov literally tells shiv "this was all your fault, you know". two of his close friends lost their child and then went through literally fucking unimaginable torture for what could've added up to years, and one of them told him to his face it was his fault. and then he starts to suspect george before everyone else because its literally happening again!! and he tries to stop him and he fails and so in his mind it's his fault - again!! millions dead, millions unborn, not because of what George did but because of what Shiv failed to stop him doing
